Wrong Way Crochet!

Told from my daughter’s viewpoint, this is what happened when she wanted to learn to crochet.

My Mom crochets stitches, both single and double.

Would she teach me – – – – without too much trouble?

“Sure,” she replied, using yarn by the mile.

“I know you can learn. Let’s practice awhile.”

We chose the H hook, made a chain, and began,

But it was too hard since I used my left hand.

We looked in the mirror and Mom held the yarn.

The reflection confused me. Didn’t help. Triple DARN!

“I’m stumped,” said my Mom. “You crochet the wrong way.”

We drove to the library…that very day.

A left-handed lesson was not to be seen – –

Not found in a book or a craft magazine.

The librarian searched and put in a request.

The book finally came. Mom said, “Do your best.”

I studied directions, learned patterns and such,

Surprising myself by crocheting so much.

Now I make beautiful afghans for friends.

I’ve conquered crochet and fringe all my ends!
