Windows Phone 7.5 And This Fall’s Phones that Optimize It

Windows Phone is catching up. Many have believed it would never get the support needed to really contend with the likes of Apple’s iOS, and Google’s android operating systems, But with the latest Windows update, WP7.5 (code named mango), they have really turned some heads. Mango has added some much needed, and unexpected, features to a struggling operating system.

Wp7.5 is, as many experts have said, what should have been released initially in the fall of 2010
. As the saying goes, better late than never, Right? Some may say it is too little too late, but they have clearly not had the pleasure of using a remarkable phone with the newest version of Windows Phone with all of the new features that are comparable to the competitors and even some that exceed them.

The Windows Operating has much to brag about, but it still fails in some serious areas. They have some serious limitations to their hardware, which may be purposeful. It could be a way to keep the same experience on all windows phones. Some of their limitations hinder the hardware to an extreme. Although Difference manufacturers can license the Windows Phone 7 Operating system, they are restricted in some curious areas.

Windows Phones cannot have 1080p ‘true High definition’ video recording. The cameras are limited to a great, yet lower definition 720p. They are also underwhelmingly stuck on a 480×800 pixels even on the phones with the biggest screen size. Windows Phones are even limited to single core CPUs which they announced is because they have found no way to optimize the battery life when using a second core in their processor.

Microsoft claims the restrictions are due to an operating system that is on a new level of efficiency than the others. The WP7 operating system is high efficient with a buttery smooth user interface and battery life that leaves comparable android devices wanting.

Even with the uphill climb ahead of them, Microsoft has done something right to the developer community. Only a year in existence and they have over 30,000 applications in the marketplace. This is nothing compared to the 250,000 in Androids Market and over 500,000 Apple’s App Store, but it is a great start!

With the mango released, many manufacturers, such as HTC,Samsung, and Nokia (who singed a partnership with Microsoft earlier this year)have jumped on the opportunity to release phones that optimize all the newfeatures in some of their new devises
