Nets fans still remember the Carmelo brouhaha. You know? Being held hostage for months only for him to sign up for a rival team. The Nets front office still remembers as well and this is quite obvious with the way that they’re dealing with Dwight Howard right now. They want to do it quickly. But for Nets fans (and Lakers fans), it’s not happening fast enough. This is why you can’t blame us for being impatient. After all, the last thing that we need is another drama.
I’ll try to be unbiased here, but I do have several reasons as to why I think that D12 will sign up with the Nets. Let us count the reasons:
1. He’s Alpha material. We all know that the title of Alpha Male is already taken in Hollywood. In LA, there’s no room for two Alpha Males. Just ask Shaq. On the other hand, D12 can be co-Alpha Male with the Nets together with Deron Williams.
2. Speaking of Shaq, I’m pretty sure that D12 is avoiding the path that Shaq took in his career and going to LA from Orlando has Shaq written all over it. They already share the Superman title. Why share the same career path?
3. The Nets are offering a more attractive package. Sure, it’s easy to assume that Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum are better than Brook Lopez and draft picks. However, both packages are not enough to push the Orlando Magic deep into the playoffs. This is where the Nets offer gets more attractive. With the future All-Star (B-Lo) and draft picks, the Magic can start rebuilding NOW. Try doing that with Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum.
4. With the Nets, life will be very easy for him with D-Will around. Opposing teams can pick their poison – pick and roll, pick and pop, drive and dish, drive and drop, etc. Oh, D-Will’s wrist is fine, thank you very much.
5. New York is hungry for another basketball franchise. A lot of rabid fans are waiting for a new basketball team. D12, together with D-Will, can be the cornerstones of that new franchise.
6. The Nets are offering a global market, thanks to the Russian influence of Mikhail Prokhorov. On that note, make that President Mikhail Prokhorov. The Russian billionaire is backed-up by another global figure – Jay-Z.
Sure, a lot of things can still happen. That’s the thing that’s making us fans frustrated. So make it happen!
