Why Barry Bonds Should Be a Hall of Famer

There is no doubt that Barry Bonds is statistically one of the greatest players in baseball history, maybe the best player. Even before the allegations he was a Gold Glove winner and perennial all-star. The question is whether the man with the most feared bat in baseball history should make his way to Cooperstown.

Over the last 20 years numerous players have been connected with steroids or other PED’s (performance enhancing drugs), of them no one has been more focused on then Barry Bonds. It is common knowledge that Bonds had a change in body type over the years. He went from a skinny base stealing machine to a bulky homerun hitter. It can be assumed that he was doing something. So for the purpose of this article lets say that he was using some type of PED.

Even if he was on steroids you cannot keep Barry out of the Hall of Fame. The fact is that you do not know who all was on steroids in this era. It would not make much sense to leave an entire decade in baseball history completely left out of the Hall of Fame. Just because he was on steroids it did not make him hit homeruns, that was all him and his talent. True it probably made him hit more, but even without them he still would have ended his career with 4-500 of them. Even if he only had 500 home runs he would have to be considered to be a hall of famer. He not only hit for power but had a decent average and also stole bases. And in the beginning he was an outstanding defensive player. So yes he hit more home runs than he should have, but can you really keep this man out of the hall of fame?
