What Makes a Good Blu-ray Player?

Blu-ray Players are now available for less than $100.00; however, most are still in the $150.00 to $250.00 range. Some are even more expensive and can cost you thousands. But are these players really better? A lot of these players seem to offer very similar features. Wi-Fi and Online Streaming Media Services are commonly found in each price range; even 3D capability is more prevalent. And there is little difference between the image quality between the players. So why do they cost more and are they worth the higher price tag? One feature you can use to distinguish between the models is their operational and loading speed.

There are many ways to determine operational speeds of a Blu-ray Disc Player. How fast can the player power up, how fast does it load a disc or how quick is its navigation or online services? And because all Blu-ray discs are not built the same, you will not get a consistence speed every time when loading disc. This is the same when dealing with Online Streaming Services. Therefore, measuring a players operational speed can get tricky. But for the most part, the different variations of disc loading speeds, as well as Online Streaming Services does average out, and you can determine which player is faster overall.

Manufacturers have always been making a strong effect to produce faster players. Slow speeds was one of the early criticisms of critics and consumers. So in 2011 all the major manufactures produces models that are faster than ever before. Panasonic seems to have come up with the fastest player so far in 2011, the DMP-BDT210. It has lighting fast speeds when loading most discs compared to other players. It even has a quick start mode to increase how fast the disc gets loaded. It powers on faster than most players. The DMP-BDT210 navigation is easy to use and quickly gets you access to features like Netflix.

Another very fast player is Sony’s BDP-S580. Although not as fast overall as the Panasonic DMP-BDT210, it comes very close. It powers up extremely fast, faster than most players; and has good discs loading speeds. Its navigation, especially when it comes to Online Streaming Media Service, could be made easier, but this should not be enough to disappoint. Other Blu-ray DVD Players that are among the fastest are Samsung BD-D6700, LG BD670, Insignia NS-WBRDVD2, Oppo BDP-93 and Sony’s Playstation 3.

With most consumers use to the quick playback of DVD Players, it easy to see why there was so many who were reluctant to change to the slow going Blu-ray. This, however, is no longer the case. While still not as fast as DVD players, Blu-ray Disc Players have become fast enough not to be a deterrent anymore. And with many players having similar functions and features, it is a great way to distinguish between Blu-ray Disc Players and help with making purchasing decisions.
