Welcome to Pennsylvania?

After a week at Disney World in Florida it was time to head home to Connecticut. Unfortunately, the task of driving me, my wife, and three kids home, was given solely to me. After 10 hours of driving, we pulled off I95N for food. At this point, the kids made it clear to me that they didn’t want to stay over in any hotels. Instead they wanted to drive straight through to home. They? I was the one driving. My wife, on the other hand was not a traveler, and wanted to stay in a hotel in Virginia for the night.

Back on the road, I succumbed to the pressure of the kids and agreed to drive straight through. My wife was angry, but once we got home she would calm down. By about 9pm, I was getting overtired, and struggled to keep going. What I saw next was horrifying. WELCOME TO PENNSYLVANIA! Oh my God. I missed my turnoff to the New Jersey Turnpike and now I was heading due west. I wanted to die. I was totally exhausted and had just increased my trip by three to four hours. Worse, I had to detour through downtown Philadelphia to get back to the Turnpike. Every block was a streetlight. One hour later, I was finally back on the Jersey Turnpike. By 4:30 in the morning, I arrived home. My kids were glad, my wife was furious. She didn’t get over it for days.
