Twas the Night Before Christmas Parody

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even the rescued strays were aroused.

Our stockings were hung over the doorway with care, In hopes that economic relief soon would be there.
Brother & sister nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of Hannah Montana danced in Both of their heads.

Hubbie & Myself, now starting to sleep with ease,
With gas prices falling, we were beginning to breathe.

We were sinking fast and unable to jump ship like 3rd Class,
We wanted to ask for help, but we felt like an ass.

As our cupboards grew bare, the fridge less full,
Our finances had no more room to pull.

We tightened our belts even more than before,
Making sacrifices & changes, buying what we needed from the store.

As our family went without, I prayed for relief & hoped to avoid disaster, Thank You God for Obama! His swearing in could not come faster!

After five years now, we cannot wait for the changes,
With Healthcare for all, our son will finally get those braces.

Daughter some glasses and the chiropractor for hubby to fix his back,
And Me to the Gynecologist for a long over due Pap.

We can start rebuilding our savings and retirement funds,
And in the spring, at long last get the badly needed roof done.

Even though we still struggle in making ends meet,
I know that this Christmas will truly be unique.

Even if our gifts are meager & modest,
We hope everyone understands our intentions are for the best.

It is the end of an era, of bad times and ill will,
This is now a time of hope, with cups of happiness to fill.

Because we know now that things will improve,
Due to Obama and his team on the move.

With Biden and Clinton, Napolitano and Holder and Geithner and Daschle,
All working together as they plan agendas thought out & rational.

Assisting the new President & Congress with the problems long ignored,
These should have been attended to before I was even born!

Now there is hope from someone who is firm to put in the work,
And it will require Everyone’s participation, with less time for being jerks!

More community and connection – that’s something we’ve lacked,
With Sustainable modifications and keeping Justice intact.

So this Christmas, as budgets are stretched,
Our society needs to get back into check.

Not to go overboard with presents and gifts.
But to count our blessings for what we already have and can give,

And be especially ever grateful that Bush did ONLY what he did!
