The Top Three Rules when Email Marketing for Success

When the vast majority of people begin their email marketing they have no idea what should be done with it. They think that selling, selling and more selling is what will do the trick. This is, unfortunately for them, the wrong way to proceed. Rule number one of the three rules when email marketing is:

Build relationships with the list you have, do not try to hard sell anything! You can mention all of your offers, however, the hard selling should be left to the web pages you send them to.

Know what you are going to say. Write it out in a word document or on a text and edit, edit, and then edit again. Check the links, if any and check the spelling, the grammar and the flow of the message. Check each and every word and ask if it should be there or not. People do not want to read something you write just because you like to write. It must answer some question they have. It must interest them to go to your web site and find out more. It has to compel them in some way.

You will have just the right number of words if you know your subject. People who ramble tend to not know, completely, what it is they are writing about. Start the email with a problem that they are possibly having with something. Play up that problem and give some possible examples of it. Mention that you have had the problem, before, or a close friend has and then, authoritatively, bring up the solution that you are offering.

Rule number 3 of the three rules when email marketing? This is a two part rule: 1. Do not send multiple emails per day unless you have specifically stated that you were going to. 2. Always provide a way for them to unsubscribe from your list.
