I got the invitation,
Forty-five years it said.
Oh boy, I said, I’m going,
Right back to bed.
It was a high school reunion,
I clicked on to the site.
Many familiar faces,
Quickly came into sight.
I saw my high school sweetie,
I wondered how he was.
I called and had a little chat,
But only just because.
I saw a home room lad,
Whose name I did remember,
What ever became of him?
I’ll find out in November.
I had to have a brand new dress,
Of that there was no doubt.
A sapphire blue dress would nicely do,
For this I would hold out.
I shopped and shopped until I found,
The very perfect dress.
I tried it on and looked at me,
I looked my very best.
Minor alterations cost,
Just a little more.
I picked it up and took it home,
And sat down on the floor.
It cost a lot but what the heck,
I will look nice and grand.
You see, in high school, I was poor,
And only took shorthand.
The night came nigh and off I went,
To the reunion spot.
I had so much fun and laughed all night,
And really talked a lot.
The home room lad I met again,
We got along just fine.
We talked about the good old days,
And had a little wine.
The reunion has come and gone,
But I will always remember.
What fun it was that special night,
Back in last November.
