The Pajama Birthday Party

There are many great types of birthdays for kids to have, but one of the most exciting is the pajama party, particularly if it’s the first one. Girls really love to have pajama parties! Slumber parties, sleepovers, pajama parties, whatever you want to call them; they are all very popular with kids. They are even more popular if it’s somebody’s birthday! The point is they love having their friends come over to spend the night and cause all manner of mayhem and mischief.

There are many ways to pull off the perfect pajama party but you must remember at all times that a house full of giggling girls requires good humor and a huge bottle of your favorite head ache remedy. Once you have a good supply of aspirin on hand you may begin hashing out the details. One important detail is deciding when during the sleepover, cake and ice cream should be eaten and gifts should be opened. Most children prefer sooner during the event rather than later so that they can play with their collection of cool stuff with their friends.

If this sounds like the best idea, you need to have the decorations in place ahead of the party, which is probably a good idea anyway. It’s great if you’ve decided on a particular theme in advance, but if not, there’s really nothing wrong with a pajama theme for the cake and decorations. You can even wear fuzzy bunny slippers and no one will complain.

Speaking of fuzzy bunny slippers, the dress for a pajama party is super casual. What the heck, why not wear a pair and see what everyone thinks? If bunnies aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other pajama footwear options available that could be a hit for an event such as this. For the girls, they will be needing plenty of nail polish, as manicures and pedicures are often the rule rather the exception as the night hours move along. It’s all in good fun and perfectly acceptable pajama birthday party activity.

For many parents organizing a pajama party one problem is underestimating the eating abilities of the kids, no matter what age they may be. Having plenty of food on hand is an absolute must for the success of your pajama party. Great midnight snacks could be things like pizza rolls, a veggy tray to keep in the fridge, chips, and microwave popcorn – a must if movies may be involved.

You should have some easy to prepare breakfast fixings on hand too because it is unlikely than anyone involved in the pajama party is going to have too much sleep. A sleepy breakfast preparation should work best. Have cereal, toaster waffles, tarts, and even oatmeal. These are excellent choices for an easy to prepare breakfast after an intense night of pajama partying. Make sure to have plenty of milk and juices on hand to accommodate the various morning tastes of the guests.

A pajama birthday party a kind of “Right of Passage” that many girls dream of before it actually happens. Make sure everybody feels comfortable and at home by planning activities and events that will keep the night moving on. Get to know the kids’ parents and be sure to invite favorite night time friends – teddy bears and favorite blankets – to insure security and that things go smoothly for all invited. This is especially important with younger girls having their first pajama parties. Make sure that the night is a success by making it memorable for everyone. Have plenty of craft projects, good food, videos, and games on hand to keep boredom out. If you do all of these things, you should have the pajama party of your child’s dreams.
