The Hilarious Reality of Reality TV

Reality tv. It is silly and on all the time. There are so many shows I can’t even name them all here. Seriously, if you watched every show…could you get anything else done in a day? I decided to pay attention and see what happened during a typical day home.
Okay, it is Saturday morning, early and something is already on. The familiar music plays and you find yourself staring at the tv screen. Forget getting up for at least another hour as this one show usually comes on two times to fill the hour easily. You glance at the clock and realize you should get up, but you don’t. Now another show is coming on and you have to watch this one. What is this pull that reality tv has on all of us? We should be living our lives yet we mindlessly watch all the first name players like they are important. We watch them groom their dogs, or have silly fights, use profanity, and then when the show is going off, all is right in their universe and everyone is smiling and laughing. Why do we let huge blocks of time go by engaged in reality tv’s world? We know better! We should be working out, but forget doing that you can’t hear what is being said even if you turn the tv up! forget making a proper meal unless you have figured out how to wire a tv above the stove that is able to resist steam or moisture. The dating reality shows are the worst. You are looking at the person and wondering why he/she has such an assortment of men or women to choose from and you find nothing appealing about him/her. But you watch like you can’t miss it. So now I have to say I have noticed watching reality tv seems to intrude greatly on your ability to live your life.
Ironically enough you are choosing not to live your reality when you watch reality tv. Think about that the next time you feel like you can’t do anything else because you might miss an episode.
