Rees Jones designed the original 18-hole Champions Course, which offers 7,088 total yards of golf with a par 72, offering Black, Blue, White, Red, and Gold sets of tees for different skill levels. The Champions course has a rating of 74.0 with a slope of 134. Arthur Hills designed the 18-hole Legends Course at LPGA International in 1998, which offers 6,984 total yards of golf with a par 72, offering Black, Blue, White, Red, and Gold sets of tees for different skill levels. The Legends course has a rating of 74.5 with a slope of 138. The Legends course is considered to be the more challenging of the two. Ten target greens, six putting greens, and a 30-tee driving range is available for practice. Golfers can find a Pro Shop on site, which offers name brand golf clubs (drivers, woods, irons, putters), golf balls, golf shoes (Footjoy, Nike), and various golf apparel. Buena Vista Hospitality Group manages this facility, with Florian Morel as the General Manager and John Lammrish as Grounds Superintendent. Several professional golf instructors are usually available on the property to offer training. Pelican Bay Golf and Country Club offers two different golf courses for golfers. Pelican Bay North is an 18-hole course, designed by William Amick, and opened in 1980. The course winds through waterways, loblolly pines, bayberry and white cedars that border the course. The North Course offers 6,829 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72, with Black, Blue, White, Gold, and Green tees for different skill levels. The course rating is 73.1 and it has a slope of 134. Pelican Bay South is an 18-hole course, designed by Lloyd Clifton, opened in 1984. The South Course winds around waterways, featuring a signature 15th hole with island green. The South Course offers 6,630 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72, with Blue, White, and Green tees for different skill levels. The course rating is 71.9 and it has a slope rating of 123. For practice, Pelican Bay offers a 25-tee driving range, fairway bunker, and putting green. There is a Pro Shop, Beverage Cart service, and a 19th Hole Bar and Grill open to the public. CPB Management LLC manages this facility, with Shawn McGuigan as Managing Partner, Craig Rudolf as onsite Golf Professional and Dennis Snee as Course Superintendent. The 18-hole Indigo Lakes Golf Course was designed by Lloyd Clifton and opened in 1976. This challenging parkland course winds through native Florida pines, live oaks, and palmetto trees. The course offers 7,131 total yards of golf for a par of 71, with Black, Blue, White, Gold, and Green tees for different skill levels of golfers. The course rating is 73.5 and it has a slope of 128. A Golf Pro Shop (where you can buy golf equipment, golf balls, and golf apparel) and restaurant can be found at the facility. Corey Hamlin is General Manager, Lawson Mitchell is the onsite Golf Professional, and Fred Rich is Grounds Superintendent. Daytona Beach Golf and Country Club is a city-owned (Municipal) facility, with two courses to play. The original 18-hole South Course, opened in 1921, was designed by renowned golf architect Donald J. Ross. The 18-hole North Course, opened in 1966, was designed by Amos “Slim” Deatherage, and redesigned in 1997 by Lloyd Clifton. Both courses are surrounded by native live oaks, Florida pines, and palm trees. The South Course has a unique hazard as it actually crosses the Florida East Coast Railway track, while the North Course has more water hazards. The North Course offers 6,338 total yards of golf for a par of 72, with Blue, White, Gold, and Red tees. The North Course rating is 70.0 and it has a slope of 120. The South Course offers 6,229 total yards with a par of 71.0, with Blue, White, and Red tees laid out for different skill levels. The South Course rating is 69.8 with a slope of 118. Along with the two parkland golf courses, the club offers a lighted 15-tee driving range, practice putting green, a fully equipped pro shop, and full service restaurant. The complex is managed by John Cameron as General Manager, with Brian Jaquet as the onsite Golf Professional and Forrest Ensminger as Grounds Superintendent. The Oceans Golf Club is the only public golf course in Daytona Beach Shores (on the beach peninsula) and features an odd layout of 13-holes. The course was originally designed by William Amick in 1981 as a 9-hole course. There is no water in play, but there are some sand bunkers. The course offers 737 yards of golf for a par of 39. The course is owned by the Oceans West Condominium Association, but is open to the public for play at a very reasonable price. Hand pullcarts are available for rental by golfers; however, you should bring your own set of clubs to play with. Scott Hubbard manages the course as the Director of Golf, and Phillip McKillip is the General Manager and Course Superintendent. Daytona was originally settled in the 1870’s by Mathias Day, who developed the land into a community and offered lots for sale. In 1926, the separate towns of Daytona, Daytona Beach, and Seabreeze consolidated to form the present City of Daytona Beach.
