‘The Bachelor’ 2012 Week 4: Who Went Home and What Producers Didn’t Show You

It’s Week 4 of “The Bachelor” and Ben Flajnik and his lucky 13 girlfriends are off to Park City, Utah for a batch of dates that feature everything from fly fishing to cat fighting. Yes, in a not-so-shocking development, the claws came out this week. So who went home this week on “The Bachelor”– and what did producers neglect to show us?

With one group date and two on-on-ones, the gals are fighting over the roses this week. Ben’s first date is with Rachel, who enjoys a helicopter ride and a picnic with him. Ditto for Jennifer, who goes on a gondola ride and to a Clay Walker concert– which includes the totally mushy song “Like We Never Said Goodbye.” How can Ben not give her a rose after dancing to that?

The group date is another story. Any date that features eight girls and one Ben just can’t end well. But we do have a Ben in shining armor as he rides a horse across a river to greet his bevy of beauties. Determined to turn her fly fishing date with seven other girls into her own on-on-one with Ben, Courtney pulls out her bag of tricks– and even catches a fish to boot. Ben gives her the group date rose.

Later, Samantha (who?) complains to Ben that she’s been on three group dates. Where’s the one on one time, she wants to know? Ben talks to her like she’s a child, saying she doesn’t handle herself well on group dates (too emotional!) and reminds her that some girls got no date this week.

“I wonder if you take this seriously enough…We should probably end this,” he says before escorting her out of his life.

But if you’re wondering why Ben seemed so annoyed by this girl– and why he cut her loose so abruptly– there may be more to this story. According to spoiler king Reality Steve, Samantha allegedly fell for a show producer. According to RS:

“It was also established in San Francisco that contestant Samantha [Levey] had fallen for producer Bennett Graebner. Nothing physical ever happened between the two, but Samantha told producers she didn’t want to be there anymore because she had feelings for someone else…. I am not sure if this storyline will ever make air because Bennett is married with kids…whatever BS reason they show for Samantha leaving in Utah, just know it’s because of that.”

So that explains Ben’s really weird demeanor that night.

Back to the recap:

The girls are hanging out while Emily gets a foil job. Why is the cocktail waitress doing her hair? *Sigh.* They agree that Courtney has got to go, so Emily, with her newly-frosted highlights, runs to Ben to give him the news flash that one of the girls acts differently around him than she does around the group.

When Courtney gets wind of Emily’s tattling, she cackles at her. She even throws in a “Good luck, Emily. Winning.”

Anyone who quotes Charlie Sheen doesn’t deserve a rose, but since she got one on the group date Courtney can get away with such things.

The rose ceremony is a nail biter. With all the friction between Emily and Courtney, is seems like Emily could go home. But guess what? Ben likes Monica even less. Buh bye. By the way, what exactly is dental consultant, anyway?

Next week: Ben and his 11 remaining girlfriends head to Puerto Rico!

“The Bachelor” Season 16 airs on Monday night on ABC.
