Thanksgiving Turkey Place Cards

Are you looking for an easy Thanksgiving craft that does not use a lot of materials? These turkey place cards are fun to make and can be used to designate seats at a crowded Thanksgiving dinner.

Age level: preschool to elementary

Time to complete: approximately 5 minutes per turkey place card

Materials needed:

card stock or thick paper

pencil

crayons

scissors

glue

marker

Instructions:

1. Line hand up at the bottom or the cardstock with wrist about an inch from the bottom.

2. Trace hand on the card stock. The traced hand will become the turkey.

3. Make a line across the paper about 1 1/2 inches from the bottom. Make sure not to draw across the turkey.

4. Cut around the turkey and lines to make a strip on each side. Save the scraps to make the beak and waddle.

5. Color the turkey. If you wish, the feathers can be left blank and each person can write down things that they are thankful for.

6. On a separate piece of paper make a small triangle for the turkey’s beak and a small oval for the turkey’s waddle.

7. Color and cut out the beak and waddle.

8. Attach the beak and the waddle to the turkey with glue. Draw an eye for the turkey.

9. Take the two strips that are sticking out on the sides and pull them around the back of the turkey, overlapping the pieces by one inch and staple closed.

10. Repeat for the number of place cards needed. Label each card with the names of the people.

11. On Thanksgiving Day set up the turkey place cards at each place setting.
