The T-Mobile G Slate tablet utilizes the Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system which has proven itself the most popular operating system on the tablet market. Driving Android 3.0 is the NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core 1GHz mobile processor, once again the processor which seems to have become the most popular processor out there. It also supports Adobe Flash so that it can let you see websites the way they were intended to be seen. This combination of great processing power and a streamlined operating system is made visible through a 8.9″ HD touchscreen capable fo 1280×768 resolution. The Slate tablet is capable of playback in 1080p, and 720p when playing 3D content. It’s size are right around the competition: 5.9″ x 9.6″ x .5″ and 21.9 ounces.
One of the coolest features about the T-Mobile G Slate tablet is that it has a 3D camera. There is a 2 megapixel front-facing camera which is great for video chatting, but on the back there are two 5 megapixel cameras which are capable of capturing images in 3D. These cameras have digital zoom, dual LED flash capabilities, and autofocus. You can shoot and share videos and images in full 1080p, or as I stated previously 720p for 3D content. This content can also be ported to an HDTV or 3DTV. Ports include a microUSB port and HDMI out slot. It is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capable, but another big feature of the Slate tablet is having access to T-Mobile’s 4G network. When connected to the 4G network the Slate is faster than the iPad on Verizon or AT&T’s network, and is also faster than the XOOM on Verizon. The T-Mobile G Slate tablet has a lithium-ion battery which gives it a 9 hour battery life when in use, and an 11.3 day battery life when in standby mode. There are various sensors built into the tablet which allow it to detect motion and light. These include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and gyroscope.
When it comes to features the T-Mobile G Slate tablet has many. T-Mobile TV is an on-demand TV service that lets you view content such as news and sports. You can browse the Internet with tabbed browsing, post things on Facebook, search Google, and watch videos on YouTube. There are also a large number of video games available. Need for Speed SHIFT comes pre-loaded, but if you want anything else simply go to the EA Store. The EA Store gives you access to previews, reviews, and the latest video games. If you don’t find the games you want at the EA Store, then check out the Android Market where they have hundreds of thousands of apps available. Some of them are free and some you pay for, but they have apps for everything. The Slate tablet also lets you see e-mail updates on your home screen. This is really nice because you don’t have to navigate anywhere to glance and see if there are any new e-mails which need your attention.
Zubui is an interesting app that comes pre-loaded on the T-Mobile G Slate tablet. It gives you access to thousands of full-color magazines with interactive features. Simple pay for a subscription and they will automatically be uploaded! If you want books then you can use Google Books which offers over 3 million titles. Customization is also a perk of the Slate tablet. Live wallpaper lets you choose whatever image you want as your background, while widgets let you do a wide number of things like access a calendar or set an alarm clock. A 3D carousel lets you customize and organize all your apps and widgets the way you want. Choose between the Android Music player and the doubleTwist music player to access and play your music. Integration with Google is one of the key features of the T-Mobile G Slate tablet. A GPS is available and is utilized through Google Maps. Google Latitude is also available, as is Google Maps Street View. Google Talk is also the method of video chatting on this tablet.
