Simple Halloween Costumes You Can Put Together

When the Halloween season rolls around, there are many people who scramble to find a costume that is just perfect for them! But they say less is more, and sometimes keeping the costume simple can turn out great! Here are a few simple Halloween costumes you can put together yourself. You may need to buy a piece of clothing or accessories to go with the costume, but it will still be easy to throw them together!

Police Officer.
A police officer is not only a simple costume, but you can easily put it together yourself. You will need a blue button up colored shirt (you can wear a white shirt under it if you want) and blue pants (dress pants or regular pants, but not jeans if you can help it). You can find different costume police officer accessories in stores, including the hat, fake handcuffs, and a fake and/or gun.

Mad Scientist.
A mad scientist is another costume that can be put together with a few simple items. The outfit can consist of a white dress shirt and black pants. Then of course you will need a lab coat, which you can find at Wal-Mart, Kmart, Party City, and Amazon. You can top the costume off with a black bowtie and black glasses (fashion glasses if you do not already wear glasses). If you want, you can add scarier effect by using fake blood or makeup on the clothing.

Witch.
If you want to be a witch for Halloween, this can be a very simple costume to put together. First you will need a long dress, which can be black or any dark color. You can wear black tights or nylons under it. An alternative would be black or striped stockings that go up to the knee. For shoes, you can wear black dress shoes or boots. Of course you will need to buy a witch hat. If you can, try to find one that matches your dress. Additional accessories can include jewelry, makeup, a broom, or a cauldron.

Miss America.
Why not be Miss America this Halloween? To make this costume, the first thing you will need is a long fancy dress or gown. It can be any color you want. You can wear tights or nylons under it, but this is optional. Do not forget the dress shoes! You make the Miss America sash yourself. Just use a long piece of wide ribbon (as wide as you can find it, so that the letters show up). Write out “Miss America” and the year on it in pencil and then go over it with marker. Top it off with some glitter glue and let it completely dry! It may take a little time, but it is still simple to make! To add the finishing touches to this costume, you can wear a tiara and carry around a bouquet of roses or flowers.

These are just a few of the many simple Halloween costumes you can put together yourself. Throwing together a simple costume is great for budgeting and last minute costumes. This can also come in handy if you cannot find a costume you like in the stores. You can put together something of your own and still be creative! Have fun dressing up this year and Happy Halloween!
