Rhinestone Leaf Napkin Ring

It’s not a novel idea to decorate your home with things like leaves at Thanksgiving. Lots of people use leaves – real or silk – to accent the dinner table, the mantle, and other areas of the house. The leaves do work well to create an autumn look, or a Thanksgiving look, without a lot of money. Even if you purchase the leaves, they’re not expensive, so you can go crazy with them. But no matter where you lay the leaves, or how many you put out, they’re still just leaves. You can make them much more than that – with little extra money – and really show off your Thanksgiving dinner table this year. Leaf napkin rings are simplistic yet lovely.

Although you can use real or silk leaves to make the unique napkin rings it costs very little to make them from card stock. You’ll find the leaves – sold in bags of several – at most any craft store. The card stock leaves come in assorted colors and types so that you can create the fall look you want for the Thanksgiving table.

At the same store, purchase rhinestones – fake jewels. They’re not expensive and come in a variety of sizes, colors, and shapes. Simply glue some of the jewels onto the chosen leaves to create a dazzling look that will be spectacular at your Thanksgiving table. If you’re using real or fake leaves you can still attach the jewels to them with hot glue. On each leaf, poke a hole at the widest end, and that will allow for a ribbon.

Roll or fold a cloth napkin and measure it to see how long you need to cut the ribbon. After cutting the ribbon, thread it through the hole in the leaf, then tie the ends in a knot. Place a bit of glue on the knot and position it inside the hole of the leaf. If you want, glue a tiny bow over the hole to conceal the knot. If the leaf you’re using is real, though, just tape the it onto the ribbon.

Whether you’re using real leaves, silk ones, or card stock leaves, you can make a different type of decorative leaves by using glitter glue. Just outline the veins on the leaves, or otherwise paint them, and, after they’re dry, they’ll sparkle and shine. Litter them all over the dinner table, on mantles, on counters, and even put them in bowls. They’re stunning and a perfect choice for Thanksgiving decorating.
