Review: Eggo Thick and Fluffy Waffles

A couple days ago, my wife went to the store so she could pick up some breakfast items for my daughter to have on school mornings (when we’re always in a bit of a rush and want something that is quick but filling). As I expected her to do, she ended up picking up a box of waffles. However, rather than one of our usual brands or varieties, she ended up buying something a bit different; Eggo Thick and Fluffy Waffles.

The first time I saw these, I really didn’t think that much of them. I have seen plenty of other brands that have promised to be thicker and fluffier than the others that, when I opened the box, didn’t look any different than regular waffles. And, I figured that would end up being the case this time as well.

However, my daughter has been having these waffles all week and, I have to admit, they are much better than I expected.

First of all, when the box says these waffles are thicker, it isn’t kidding. I wouldn’t say it is a drastic difference. But, it is a noticeable difference. In fact, they are thicker to the point I have to cook them longer in our toaster oven. And, as a result of this, they are much more filling for our daughter who normally can eat two regular waffles but has a hard time getting through just one of these.

As far as the fluffier claim, once again, I do think there is a noticeable difference. I tried a piece of one of these waffles yesterday morning when I was making it for her and thought it was more like the waffles we make at home (on mornings when we actually have time to) rather than something that came frozen in a box. The homemade ones are still better but these are definitely better than most other frozen brands would be.

I’m not sure if my wife paid any more for these waffles than she would have for regular frozen waffles from this brand; though I’m sure they were a bit more expensive than the bargain brands we would normally buy. If she did, I think these would be one of the few products that were worth the extra money. If you are looking for something that is a bit different from your average frozen waffle, I recommend buying a box of these the next time you are at the store.
