Resident Evil: Revelations Video Game Review and Analysis’

Resident Evil: Revelations was just released for Nintendo 3DS on 2/7/12. With a price tag of 39.99USD you might be wondering if you should pick this game up, and give it a whirl. This game takes place between Resident Evil 4 and 5, and you assume the role of multiple characters while playing. The majority of time is spent playing the well known characters Jessica Valentine(Jill), and Chris Redfield. From abandoned boats, to empty warehouses, this game has just about every creepy location you can think of.

Lights, Zombies, Action! Plug in your headphones and turn off the lights if you dare! Creepy music, great action, and perfect use of lighting and shadows are just a few of the great features found in the Resident Evil franchise. You will also encounter rats, spiders, bats, and of course zombies. The majority of the game takes place in dark areas, so just remember that your flashlight is your best friend.

No Spoiler Review. Without giving away any spoilers, you will be playing as Agent Jill and trying to find Chris. Chris was last located on an abandoned boat. For most of the game you have a “sidekick” with you, who is computer controlled(AI). He will follow you around, participate in videos, and even help you in combat. From using a low ammo pistol to a heavy machine gun, you get to experience a lot of high action firefights. The game is divided into episodes, and each episode takes anywhere from 20-60 minutes. After every episode you are shown a recap of the story you just played.

The Controls/UI. The controls to this game were very familiar. The classic walk and shoot slow pace well known to Resident Evil games is found here. A cool twist of adding touch maps, and weapon switching to the 3DS touch screen is nice. The game controls are easy to get the hang of, and there is always a handy instruction manual just in case.

Personal Opinions. This game definitely impresses me, and shows just how far handheld consoles have come. I would give this game an 8 out of 10 hungry zombies. It will leave you dying to play more.
