Product Review: InStyler

I received the InStyler curling iron as a gift a few months ago, and I have already fallen in love with it. The curler also serves as a straightening iron, which is nice to use on my naturally curly hair. The InStyler is a fairly simple object to use. On one side, it looks like your typical curling iron with a large round barrel. The other side is flat, resembling your typical flat iron. What makes the InStyler curling iron different, though is that there is a bristled brush on the flat side, and the round barrel of the curling iron side rotates, which helps lock in the moisture in your hair, rather than sucking it out through the heat like many of the other straightening and curling irons do.

What I love about the InStyler is that it heats up very quickly and works even on my hair, which isn’t always the easiest to work with. I mostly use it to straighten my hair, but whether I straighten it or curl it, it tends to last most of the day. My hair is typically dry, and this is the first device that I’ve used that hasn’t made it worse.

Of course, no device is perfect. While the bristles on the InStyler are helpful in straightening my hair, it is a bit of a pain to always have to clean out the brush after each use once it has cooled down. And speaking of the heat, the InStyler gets very hot very quickly, and because it’s somewhat large and doesn’t really proper stand on it or any easy way to hold it other than on the barrel, it’s easy to burn yourself, or your bathroom counter! The rotation of the curling iron is also a bit noisy, but unless you’re intentionally trying to be quiet with it, this doesn’t seem like too much of a problem.

Over all, I would have to say that I really enjoy the InStyler. It has its issues, but it also works magic on my hair. I love being able to straighten my hair several times a week without feeling guilty about the damage I’m doing to it. You can buy the InStyler at places like Bed, Bath and Beyond, or if you’re shopping online, you can find it on Amazon.com. They typically run around $100, but if you consider what you’ll get out of it if you just give it a shot, I would say that the cost is completely worth it. The InStyler is easily my favorite part of every morning.
