Physician Internet Marketing: Getting Patients Online

One of the most hotly debated topics in today’s modern world is what is the place of the Internet? Are businesses that have a presence in the online world really all that much more successful than those who are not? The resounding message from research appears to be, “Yes!”

One of the oldest professions; that of physician; is coming under increased scrutiny for their online presence. Many individual physicians are not even professionally online at all. They use computers for booking, patient records and for reference, but they don’t have an individual online profile which they or their office has created. If they do have an online profile it is often very basic with information like education and specialty.

While that may seem insane to you who is reading this online, for physicians the need was never there. In our increasingly digitized age; physician internet marketing is becoming more vital.

Having physician internet marketing is not only a good idea for individual physicians; doing online marketing is also a good idea for offices where different physicians of different specialty work together. Satisfied return patients are as sure as getting their children, spouses, friends, and co-workers doing the same.

People always talk about the good experiences they have with their doctors; why shouldn’t physician internet marketing be doing the talking for these doctors anytime anyone is looking for a specialty or particular physician?

Getting your physician offices internet marketing on message is as simple as collectively deciding what you want your online presence to say and then saying it.

Business traffic has been shown to increase when business owners do personalized blogging. While a physician may not have the time or the interest in blogging personally, their secretary could likely turn out a blog which sounds like this particular doctor without too much effort.

Maybe this blogging phenomenon is the result of reality TV or maybe it’s just that customers (patients) like to know the person they are going to be interacting with before they enter the office. Whatever the reason, getting your head around physician internet marketing is something that all physicians’ offices should be keen on.

It will be interesting to see how this current generation of now-student doctors who grew up with computers and social media will be different from past generations. Doctors who mount and ride the online wave will prosper. Those who don’t could wipe out.
