P90X2 Diet Preview – Diet, Nutrition and Meal Plan Tips

If you found it challenging to stick with the original P90X meal plan, the P90X2 diet may be a better match for you. Reports from a recent coach summit for Beachbody coaches explain that the P90X2 nutrition program caters to vegans, vegetarians and those who want gluten-free options. The P90X2 meal plan features 27 different diet guides in one, and it’s designed to fuel performance and enhance recovery. The original P90X diet has been altered to accommodate for more variety in the meals without compromising on nutrition.

If you’re planning to do the P90X2 workout program, make sure you’re prepared for the P90X2 diet plan with these tips:

P90X2 Diet Principals

The key principals of the P90X2 diet program are similar to those found in the P90X meal plan. You will still need to eat quality, lean protein throughout the day, consume complex carbohydrates earlier in the day and watch your intake of excess sugar and alcohol. It’s a good idea to calculate your calorie requirements before you begin shopping for food and preparing meals, and create a meal plan that you can honestly stick with. Remember that you’ll need to be eating smaller meals throughout the day to keep your energy up and ensure you’re feeding your body with enough quality calories as you work through the program.

Some of the key diet principals to keep in mind with the P90X2 workout program include:

– Replacing red meat and high-fat meat with lean chicken, turkey and other lean protein sources

– Eating slow-digesting carbohydrates with your protein

– Ensuring all meals fit within your calorie quota for the day

– Eliminating white bread and sugar from the diet

– Incorporating Shakeology into your daily meal plan (still optional with P90X2, more below)

– Drinking plenty of water throughout the day – ideally at least 10 glasses of water per day

– Committing to eating a higher ratio of protein to carbs for the first few phases of the workout program

Shakeology and Supplements the P90X2 Diet

Just like all the rest of the Beachbody workouts, Shakeology is incorporated into the diet plan to ensure that people going through the workout program are getting the nutrition they need. Shakeology can be enjoyed as a meal replacement or snack, and contains essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients to boost energy. Beachbody also sells a line of P90X protein bars to support those who are undertaking the P90X2 workout. These aren’t required as part of the diet plan, but purchasing these – or other high-protein, low carb bars – can make meal planning a cinch and make it easier to stick with the P90X2 workout program for the full 90 days.
