Summer is leaving
No more long days will I see
More time in darkness
I’ll miss the long, long bright days
Coyotes come in the dark
No more bright sunshine
Slippery streets will soon come
Makes cars go sliding
Put on the windshield wipers
So I can see through the rain
Lesson for Students: A tanka is like a haiku except as you can see, the pattern is 5-7-5-7-7
