Not so Late

How long could it take to do,
To read a limerick or two?
A week is too long;
My patience, not strong,
But wait is all I can do.

The holiday I wrote for,
Has already passed the door.
Its significance gone;
it’s just a short song.
Next year, time, I’ll give more.

Maybe then on time it’ll be,
So my reader’s will then see;
I am not so late;
Don’t procrastinate;
It’s the editors, not me.
