NFL Announces Super Bowl Half-Time Show Super Bowl 2012

With a little over 62 days left before the Super Bowl, the NFL and the city of Indianapolis has announced who will perform during the half time show. During the Saints – Lions game on Sunday night football, the announcement was made that award-winning, Madonna will be in Indianapolis to perform the half time show! Madonna will be working with some of the people from Cirque so Leile for the show as well as her own band members and choreographers.

Living just south of Indianapolis, I must say that this is a surprise announcement as there had not been any talk of who would perform, but I assumed that it might be Hoosier born, John Mellencamp. I won’t say that I disagree with Madonna, but I do realize that she is a musician who comes with some controversy and someone who fans will either be thrilled with or not.

The Material Girl, as she is known, is one of the greatest female musicians and whether you like her or not, most will say that she is a multi-talented artist. Madonna debuted her first album in 1983 and followed it with several chart exploding other albums, She had hits like ” Papa, Don’t Preach”, “Like a Virgin”, LIke a Prayer”. “Vogue”, and “Frozen” among many others. She has also been in films and is currently directing her second film “W.E”. She does come with some controversy, but overall with much talent and a solid career behind her. She has sold over 300 million albums, so she does have fans out there!

Lucas Oil Stadium and the city of Indianapolis won’t see their hometown team of the Indianapolis Colts performing at Super Bowl XLVI on Feb.2,2012. The current NFL season has Colts fans wondering where their team actually went this year. With number 18, quarterback Peyton Manning out following neck surgery, it seems as though the Colts have struggled to get touchdowns and with making plays to keep them in games that they are leading. After being defeated in every game, the Colts franchise did announce that the defensive coordinator had been fired last week and they replaced quarterback, Curtis Painter for yesterday’s game, but still could not pull off a win against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Colts colors will surely still be seen as fans are still glad that they are Indianapolis Colts fans and their presence will still be there with the fans.

The local news channel has the big announcement on it and they are also allowing visitors to read the facebook comments that they are receiving following the announcement of Madonna’s performance. It seems that many are pleased while others are not, even calling the former Michigan girl a defector for her move to Great Britain. I guess there is even a Facebook petition page to try to convince promoters to change their decision of her being the halftime show.

Madonna is an artist in her field and will join the musicians like Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, U2, Prince, The Black Eyed Peas, and Bruce Springsteen as Super Bowl half-time shows. Madonna is sure to bring millions to watch the show because like her or hate her she usually does do a great show and is in talented. Super Bowl XLVI will go into the history books the same as other half time shows as being memorable at the least.
