Neil Diamond Falls in Love with (Another) Staffer

At 70 years old, Neil Diamond’s heartlight is beating stronger and shining brighter than ever.

Dipping his pen once again into the company ink, Diamond has announced his engagment to staff member Katie McNeil.

The legendary songwriter, who is having a career year, told fans of his Twitter account that he and comanager McNeil are to be married.

“I’m lovestruck,” Diamond wrote, “…Katie and I just got engaged.”

This will be Diamond’s third marriage, ending the longest love drought the crooner has seen since his first marriage in 1963.

The hot August nights that culminated in Diamond’s September announcement are merely the icing on the cake of a landmark year for the Jazz Singer.

In March, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, two months later he received the Icon Award at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, and by the time the year is out, he’ll have received a Kennedy Center honor.

Diamond’s stellar year and wedding announcement are not a shocker, as success has always seemed to go arm-in-arm with a new love for the thrice married Diamond.

Diamond’s first marriage ended after six years, the same year that the songwriter’s legendary hit Sweet Caroline struck fame.

Later that year Diamond would begin a pattern of work-related relationships, when he married production assistant, Marcia Murphy.

The marriage to Murphy was the second for Jewish Elvis, and the more successful, lasting 26 years before the serenadester’s heart once again became restless.

In 1997, one year after his second divorce, Diamond found love again in the arms of his Aussie marketing rep, Rachel Farley.

The duo never married, and separated in 2008.

Diamond will be honored by the Kennedy Center with actress Meryl Streep, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, stage star Barbara Cook, and saxophonist Sonny Rollins. CBS is scheduled to air the gala in December.
