My Favorite Movie for Valentine’s Day: ‘Moonstruck’ (1987)

I love to watch the movie “Moonstruck” (1987) on Valentine’s Day because it is a passionate love story that makes me laugh. Many scenes take place around the table in a traditional Italian home, and no one is shy about speaking their piece.

When Johnny Cammareri (Nicholas Cage) tells Loretta Castorini (Cher) that he doesn’t care if he burns in hell for loving her, she smacks him and says “Snap out of it!” Then they fall into a passionate embrace.

At one point, Loretta tells one brother at the breakfast table she’ll marry him and gets mad at the other for letting her go. Her grandfather has something to say. “I’m so confused!” he blurts out.

When Loretta accepts Johnny’s proposal, his brother (Danny Aiello) begins to shuffle out the door. Loretta’s mother (Olympia Dukakis) asks where he’s going. “You’re part of the family,” she says. And so he is.
