My 2012 New Year Perspective

The first thing I would like to do is hope for everyone a very healthy life in 2012. Wellness with good health is the most essential thing of all. Just think about this logic. No one will want $10 million, for example, or win the lottery but have bad health and cannot enjoy life. So even if you are just a regular person, rich or hard-working, good or even perfect health is critical for success in the 2012 New Year.

Some people during New Year’s time like to talk about Fate. This generally means whatever happens in someone’s life occurs by forces that cannot be changed by that person. Or simply, that which is inevitably predetermined by a person own destiny. I believe that is not true. We can change our future by what we do today. We may not do so entirely, but we can. For example, a brilliant person who decides from high school days to study brain surgery to become a doctor and does that will change her entire life for the better. If she decided to drop out of school instead, for example, and joins a violent bad gang, she will most likely change her life for the worst – ending up in and out of jail for a long time. Now we can see the logic of what I am saying now. On the other hand, some will say things will happen in life that we really cannot change. This may be true but it is not pure fate since we have some control over our destiny in life. A new born child fate, for example, is most likely in the hands of his/her parents. He/she will live or may die base on what the parents do or fail to do. But sooner or later, that child will grow up and what he/she actually chose to do can change their life. Of course we prefer to know and hope that a child who becomes a teen and then an adult will follow good teachings and advice to change his/her life for the better. So in 2012, we can indeed change our lives for the better – as much as we can and capable of doing.

We all need money in 2012. At least many of us really do. Many need jobs. Because I have an offline job with a private company does not mean I do not need money. I am not paid $100 an hour. And even some who are paid that rate and much more will want more in 2012. In my entire 40+ years of life I have never met anyone who did not want more money. But here we must be careful of being greedy or foolish. For example, to use your kids school fee to gamble to win or lose is just the wrong thing to do. The kids are the ones who will lose in the first case and then the unwise gambler. To use all your personal savings and invest it in a business may not be smart either. Although you may succeed or eventually do so, to use all of your money on a risky business is not good at all for anyone. And in 2012, we must continue to be very aware of scammers online and offline. For example, in case we may forget, many have it as their 2012 Resolution to scam as many as possible – regardless of who they are and their unfortunate situation.

Politics in the United States will become very critical – especially in the latter part of the year. But even throughout this year (Presidential Election year) we will see many unpleasant or even dirty competitions all over the news, Internet, print media, and so on. Many friends are to be careful not to lose good pals. It may not be worth it for the election sake. In this time, it is not easy to find and keep really good friends. As such, we are to be very careful not to be carried away by emotions, race connections and class social barriers and problems that can destroy long standing and social friendships or connections. To vote based on facts, personal beliefs and benefits is just the human nature in us. But to be carried away into foolish or irrational thoughts and actions may take a very long time to fix or solve in the manner we would like that to be or return to before the unfortunate occurred. So we just have to be calm and rational about this year and the Elections atmosphere in America.

Not many people will really hope for happiness in 2012. And that (happiness) often seems to be attached to money for most people. But to be really happy requires more than money. It also has to be cultivated on a daily basis in our lives. For example, we need to learn or remember how to recognize dangerous situations – social or otherwise that may bring a one-time happy feeling but an everlasting sorrow later. In our homes or work environment, for example, we need to examine ways of creating that happy atmosphere that will help our mental and physical health. This is not hard to do. We only need to identify what will help in this process and get friends or good neighbor advice to make the process and situation even better. We need to try and avoid regrets. So whatever we will do must not in the future create any feeling or remorse or regrets. We must really know that we will be better and happier when we decide and act accordingly.

The above then are just some of the 2012 issues to consider. The cultivation of good health and financial prosperity are the two most people will look at in the New Year. And that is understandable. But remember that happiness is very critical to us as humans. So this cannot be overlooked in the 2012 New Year.
