Movie Review of One-Eyed Monster

Synopsis: Adult film star Ron Jeremy is making a movie in northern California when a space alien steals his manhood and uses it both to impregnate women and kill whoever gets in its path.

Who’s in it? Ron Jeremy, Charles Napier, Jason Graham, Veronica Hart and Jenny Guy.

What I liked about this movie: Well, for starters, I always give points for originality and this movie definitely scored quite a few of those. Basically, it’s still an alien invasion movie but the aliens realize everything that isn’t related to reproduction is just waste.

This movie falls into the “it’s so stupid, you can’t stop watching it” category. And, I mean that in a good way. Despite the title and the premise, it is actually pretty well written. I’ve seen plenty of horror movie spoofs that were neither scary nor funny. This one at least manages to accomplish the latter by poking fun at horror films and the porn industry. The acting was a bit over the top (which I’m not sure was by accident or design) and the special effects left a little to be desired. But the movie was so light hearted, it really didn’t matter.

Helping the cause was veteran actor Napier who managed to play such a serious character but still managed to be funny. This is especially true when he talks about his Vietnam War encounter with the alien.

Another thing I liked about this movie was the ending was anything but predictable. It’s impossible to tell who will be the person who lives and who will end up dying.

What I didn’t like about this movie: There are some horror movie monsters that are much more believable if you don’t see them. That was the case with Jeremy’s “appendage” in this movie. The filmmakers did their best to make it look real but I think it would have been better if they kept it off camera.

Final Opinion: Based on the description, I wasn’t expecting too much from this film but I think it is definitely something worth watching if you get a chance. Just make sure you don’t have the kids in the room with you.

My Grade: 4 stars out of a possible 5.
