Missoni for Target Launch Crashes Target Website

Ever since Missoni announced they would be launching a brand new, exclusive line just for Target, fashionistas and Missoni fans have been counting down the days. To be released online September 13th, the collection was stated to contain clothing and fashion accessories, as well as stylish house ware items.

However, the hype around the launch was so extreme, that only several hours after Target debuted the items online the entire Target website has crashed and at this time remains inaccessible.

Fans that weren’t quite fast enough were greeted with an error message reading “We are suddenly extremely popular. You may not be able to access our site momentarily due to unusually high traffic. Please stay here and we’ll try to get you in as soon as we can!”

Missoni, an Italian fashion house, was founded in 1948. It is easily recognizable by its trademark zig-zag patterns, sometimes found in bright colors and occasionally in mono-chromatic hues. Missoni is a designer label that is often worn by the designer’s themselves. Celebrity stylist and head of her own label, Rachel Zoe recently posted photos of Missoni baby accessories that she collected for her newborn son.

Up until this time, it has remained a very high end fashion statement, with couture prices and accessibility. A collection for Target suddenly makes this classy label available to the common consumer for the very first time.

This isn’t the first time that Target has achieved bringing world renowned designers to a easily reached level. In the past years, Target has also offered collaborations with Mulberry, Liberty of London, and Calypso.

Target has not yet released a statement citing when we can expect their website to be back online. Missoni fans will have to practice their patience but in the meantime, you can check out a video put together by the fashionistas at CasaSugar that features their top picks of this long awaited collection here.
