Microsoft: Reinventing the Touch Screen Technology Again?

Cellphones nowadays are getting smaller that its buttons are becoming so small that sometimes it is hard to press when dialing or sending text messages. But what if you could project the keypad on to your hand, arm, the nearest wall, or a desktop to dial or send text? Well, there is good news!

Microsoft just unveiled a new product called Omnitouch. It is a device that mounts on your shoulder and uses a combination of a depth-sensing camera and a pico projector. The projector allows you to project applications on to any surface and the camera allows that surface to become a touch screen.

The custom camera uses the same principle as that of Kinect, but is modified to work at a short range.

This latest technology from Microsoft is now in the works and is expected to be available to consumers very soon.
