London, England Host of 2012 Olympic Summer Games

London, England is a great place to visit. As of now the city has added a new terminal to one of their busiest airports which is London Heathrow a few years ago. It is the gateway city between the East and the West. This means that a lot of people use London as a stopping point if they want to go anywhere in Asia, Africa or both North America and South America. London is a great place for tourist destination because with 2012 around the corner, many people will be coming to watch the best athletes in the world competing in the Olympic Games.

My first trip London was pretty exciting. I was 19 yrs old and I had never been to Europe before in my life. I had been to New York, Los Angeles, and Mumbai but never to London in terms of metropolis.
England is famous for Cricket and Soccer. The latter I knew well, but I was very curious about the sport called cricket.

England is famous for Cricket and Soccer. The latter I knew well, but I was very curious about the sport called cricket. I visited Lord’s Cricket field which was located in Marylebone. I watched a test match between Middlesex which was the home team and Surrey which was the away team. Somehow, although I was watching this sport for the first time I found it rather interesting. I made sure that my picture was taken on the field and it thrilled me to be standing on the historic Lord’s Cricket ground that founded in the 1800s. What an awesome feeling!

Next on my list was Madam Tussauds which most people who visit London make it a point to visit. It was a cool thing to take pictures with the wax figures of all the famous people around the world.

I also visited Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul Cathedral, Kew Gardens, Greenwich Royal Observatory, London Eye, Trafalgar Square and the British Museum. These are also some of the very famous tourist attractions. However what makes visiting them a unique experience for me is the fact that I visited them several times when I had to take my visiting family members to view them. Regents Park was especially memorable because it was very close to where I resided and I went there several times to enjoy not only the beauty of the place but also people of different nationalities. These are sprawling grounds with numerous rose gardens, jogging and walking tracks, lakes with boating facilities and areas for theater and concerts.
