Earlier this afternoon, American Idol’s very own Lauren Alaina performed the “Star Spangled Banner” at the Detroit vs. Green Bay Thanksgiving Day football game and she ran into a dilemma. A few seconds into the song she is said to have “gone blank”. I had the opportunity to speak with Mrs. P. Mixson of Brooklyn, NY who watched the game from home and she stated “she just stopped singing; she forgot the words!” One of the announcers made the statement “it’s about how you finish” after Alaina finished her performance. It was evident that shortly after her performance the headlines would be filled with this news.
At 17 years of age, young Lauren Aliana has been in the spotlight quite a bit. After her participation in American Idol season 10, she came out as a runner up in the competition. Although she didn’t win, Aliana left the competition with a contract deal along with fame and fans. Aside from her appearance at this Thanksgiving Day game, Aliana has appeared on several talk shows, as a presenter at the CMT Music Awards, the American Idols LIVE! Tour 2011 and many other appearances! With her recent album release titled “wildflower”, which sold over 140,000 albums, Aliana is on to a great start in the music business.
Will this fumble of the “star spangled banner” kill her chances of being at the top of the charts? I highly doubt it. Christina Aguilera butchered this song during her pre-super bowl performance earlier this year and she is still doing fairly well. Despite this mishap, Lauren Aliana still has a good chance at getting to the top where she wants to be. I’m sure her loyal fans will remain in her corner as she continues on in her journey. She will indeed be ready the next time!
