Las Vegas, Nevada Celebrates Women’s History Month 2012 in Style

Two Southern Nevada events celebrating Women’s History Month 2012 sound intriguing.

The West Las Vegas -Clark County Library District and City of Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs are pleased to host workshops recognizing women in the community in observation of Women’s Day Celebration 2012. Register in advance to hold your place and that of a guest. Registrants are encouraged to bring another woman to the event.

Understanding the juggling that women make to combine career, family and volunteer efforts, this year’s theme elaborates on health and happiness while achieving a happy medium between the many activities faced daily.

Workshops will discuss and take part in methods that will restore the harmony needed for mental and physical health. Information and details continue to be organized, with the basic program here.

The Office of Diversity Initiatives, UVLV Women’s Council, and the Women’s Research Institute of Nevada are sponsoring a Diversity Leadership Forum on March 8 to honor Women’s History Month. Former Congresswoman Dina Titus will moderate the forum, designed to provide discussion on the recession’s mark on the women in Southern Nevada. For a list of keynote speakers, go here.

If it has been awhile since you have participated in one of the displays or events at the university campus or you are just curious about how staff members and other women in the community see lifestyles changing for women, this sounds like an excellent event to attend. The welcome reception is from 6 – 7 pm, followed by an hour-long panel discussion. The final hour is a question and answer session.

Metered parking is available on campus and public transportation is available. No pre-registration is necessary.
