It’s Official, Hockey Season is Here: All “Hockey Widows” Unite

Well ladies, it’s that time of year again…hockey season. Now, for the next several months, our husbands or boyfriends will be glued to the television set. About the only evening conversations we can expect from them from this point on until about early June at season’s end, will either be pertaining to hockey, or monosyllabic grunts given in response to anything we mention not involving hockey.

It can be a frustrating time of year for us gals who are not as into the sport as our man.You may as well stock up on some good books, indulge in a hobby, or find another television in another room to entertain yourself on those cold winter nights, because let’s face it gals, we’re on our own now.

Eventually, as the season winds down, you will eventually be acknowledged again, and you can take comfort in the fact that you, strong woman that you are, have survived yet another long season as a “hockey widow”.

Be sure to discuss anything meaningful from the period of time after the Stanley Cup Finals through early October, before the official start of the next hockey season.

Hang tough gals, this too shall pass. If you can’t beat ‘em, you may as well join them. Perhaps try being an uber fan this year, and see how that goes? Or maybe not. But seriously, good luck to all the hockey fans, the teams they support, and the wonderful women in their lives who stick around year after year, season after season.
