How to Decorate Your Home for Winter

With the last of the busiest holidays approaching. We know it will soon be over. Christmas and fall decorations will be put away until the next year. Time for some new decorations for the winter months. Winter is a perfect time of year for some neat and creative decorations. If you are like me, you love to decorate for, not just holidays, but also the different seasons. Winter is full of snow and warmth. Here are five great ideas.

Cool Colors.
Changing up the home with some new, fresh cool colors. Is a great way to get the winter decorating started. Adding decorations of whites, glitter, and blues. Is a great way to make your home feel like a winter wonderland. Look for flowers that you can add sparkle too. Think snow, ice, and the beautiful crystal mornings.

Warm colors. Another great way to start your decorating is to add warm colors to your home. Burgundy, creams, and browns are perfect. Thinking about the cool outside weather may just make you want a warm retreat. So try adding cream throw pillows, burgundy candles, or flowers with warm colors to add a sense of warmth.

Warm smells. Decorating your home is always nicely finished off with a warm smell. So add apple and cinnamon candles or vanilla to your everyday decor. This always adds color and beauty to your home. It also adds to the senses of our smells, which in turn warms us for the winter.

Plants.
Don’t forget to add some fresh new house plants to your home. Think green, pine, or even Poinsettias with their warm red. Having fresh plants in your home is not just great decor, but also great for our health. When decorating I love adding new plants. Always be sure to check the safety of your plants if you have pets or kids, as I do. Getting new flower pots to match the colors you choose also adds wonderful freshness to your home in winter.

Frames.
The last idea is to change up your family portraits a bit. Getting new frames is a great way to get a great look in your home in winter. I like to get new wood frames for my pictures. It makes me think of a wood cabin in the snow. Which of course I don’t have, but I love the look. Wood frames add a real beauty to homes and is simple to accomplish.

Now, you have a few ideas to help you get started with decorating for after the holidays. With winter comes a wonderful array of decor. Enjoying the cold weather couldn’t be more fun then the decorating in our homes.
