How to Cut Household Bills Without Losing Services

It is easy to advise others to cut household bills by eliminating unnecessary entertainment and other in-home services. I am continuously looking for ways to cut my household bills, but I am not willing to lose premium television programming, a high speed Internet connection and my landline phone. I want all of the latest and greatest services, but I had to find a way to reduce my monthly expenses. Instead of canceling everything from television programming to my landline phone, I found ways to cut my household bills, and I did it without losing services. I am actually receiving more than ever for a whole lot less, and you can do it too.

Replace Your Cable or Satellite Service with a Roku Box

I was paying approximately $150 a month for bundled Internet and cable television services, and although I wanted to keep it all, television programming was the first of the many bills that I had to eliminate. My boyfriend told me about the Roku box, and I had the opportunity to use it before making a decision. Without cable, satellite or a rooftop antenna and a digital converter or tuner, I would not be able to view current network programs or local news. When trying to cut household bills I was willing to give this up. Most of the shows I watch are not on local network channels anyway.

I absolutely love the Roku box. When striving to cut household bills I was able to save $80 a month and without losing the services I wanted. I watch Netflix more than any other channel, and I have more choices now than ever before. When I subscribed to cable television, I was watching mostly reruns. At least now I can watch more of the shows I want and without having to pay an exorbitant price.

Use Magic Jack Instead of a Landline Phone Connection

A landline phone is also a major household expense, especially when subscribing to unlimited long-distance and premium calling features. When trying to cut my household bills without losing services, I purchased a MagicJack device. Read the article entitled Ways to Make Free Long Distance Calls to learn more about this fantastic money-saving product. I enjoy the latest and greatest services and features of a landline phone, but without the added expense. Why pay for landline phone services when a product like this is available?

These are just two of the many ways I have been able to significantly cut my household bills and without losing services. Instead of subscribing to a daily newspaper I read my news online. I have also stopped shopping at higher end grocery stores and discount stores that were not offering any real bargains.
