What is FOX’s ‘Glee’ Show About?
Prior to the start of the FOX series, Glee, many viewers did not even know what a glee club or song cover even was. However, the term glee club has become very popular after this hit FOX series came to television screens across the world. Glee appears at first to be little more than a show about a group of unpopular high school kids – they have their own drama, problems, and relationships, which they express by singing and dancing together in a low budget glee club.
After watching the show, though, audiences are able to see there is so much more to Glee than that. From the deep relationships and teen drama that plays out among the fun, good looking, and talented cast, to a super funny but mean cheerleading coach out to destroy the glee club for good, to the Glee’s positive messages of truth and self acceptance, Glee has become the popular success that it is.
Glee grew into such a nationwide smash hit that high schools across the globe are finding themselves having hundreds of Glee Clubs form. Glee’s music and songs have found other ways to get popular, too – from topping the iTunes charts to having a brand new show called The Glee Project, Glee has proven how loved it is by audiences. There is even a new movie called Glee 3D that is going to all theatres and presenting a fun concert version for you to enjoy and sing along with! Yet with all of the funny laughs, songs, and touchy issues that are shown the FOX show, this success is not much of a surprise.
Glee’s Talented Cast, Popular Covers of Songs, and Positive Messages
Glee is filled with a talented and fun cast, which is a real part of its great popularity and appeal. Even off the show, fans of the show are able to see the cast are a very kind, down to earth, and funny group of teens. The best singer, an intense diva named Rachel Berry is portrayed by actress Lea Michelle; her love interest is football player Finn Hudson, acted by the handsome Cory Montieth, offers Glee Wiki. When Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson aren’t going through their own relationship drama, Glee Club teacher Will Schuster is trying to save the glee club from the super funny comments and schemes of the mean cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester.
The cast is full of talented singers and stars that do great covers from popular pop songs of today to classic songs of the past, such as Katy Perry’s “Firework” to Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” Guest stars Kristin Chenoweth from Wicked and Gwyneth Paltrow as Holly Holiday also play an important role. Maybe one of the other best bits of Glee, on top of its humor and deep plotline, is how the show tackles taboo issues with acceptance and positive messages. Glee shows how a gay student, Kurt Hummel, comes to terms with his homosexuality, how the “perfect” cheerleader Quinn Fabray (Dianna Aggron) gets pregnant by a boy who is not her boyfriend, friends Santana (Naya Rivera) and Britney (Heather Morris) have feelings more than friends for each other, and even Artie Abrams as he deals with a social life as a boy in a wheelchair.
What Songs and Characters ‘Glee’ has Coming Next Season
Due to its positive messages, Glee definitely has a lot in store for it coming in the next season, season 3. The Glee Project show is almost finished choosing a lucky actor or actress who will join the show as a side character for part of the season. A new, third season of Glee is also on its way in late September, much to the excitement of Glee’s many diverse fans. According to FOX, Glee has even come out with its own movie in August, known as Glee 3D – it will help you “see the friends you love like you’ve never seen them before” as a theatre like concert.
Glee 3D is going to be a great, fun movie for fans of Glee because it will give audiences a glimpse into never before seen Glee footage, such as funny scenes and talks with the Glee cast off the set and on their concert tour. All in all, Glee on FOX is worthy of its high status and popularity because of how it accepts all viewers in the same way it accepts all characters on the show – with a voice about to sing and a song covered in your heart.
