You know there are going to be many photos taken at the 50 th anniversary party so you’ll need some sort of backdrop to stand in front of for the pictures. If you’re the one who is preparing the place for the party you can create a beautiful backdrop that glitters and shines. People will think you spent a fortune but the backdrop is actually very inexpensive and really easy to make.
Foam board helps you make a giant “50” backdrop which is perfect for this special occasion. You can find the foam board at a craft store but it can often be much cheaper if you buy it at a home improvement store. It’s available in various thicknesses so you can create the “50” that you want for the anniversary backdrop. You can buy really thick foam board and make a “50” that stands on its own or you can purchase a thinner version and use it to make a hanging “50”.
Foam board is foam, of course, and each side of it is covered with paper – generally, white. It’s easy to cut when you use a sharp knife. Print a “5” and “0” out from your home computer to make a large pattern for the foam board. After drawing the “5” and the “0” onto the foam board use a sharp knife and cut out the numbers.
Poke a hole at the top of the “5” and the top of the “0” to create a way to hang the numbers – if you’re making the hanging variety. Thread a long piece of fishing twine into each hole and tie the ends into a knot. This will create a hanger for each number. The twine is strong and virtually invisible so it’s a good choice for hanging the backdrop.
Glitter paint spray is a quick and easy way to cover the numbers and make them glittery. It might take more than one coat to get the coverage you want. Hang or stand your finished “50” in the area where you want it and you’re all set for the pictures.
