Ford is Tough on the Competition

It is no secret that the Ford F-150 has been the number one selling pick-up truck in America for the last 34 years and counting. The Ford Motor Company’s pride and joy that is the F-Series has become an American icon over the last few decades, and has beaten expectations over and over again along the way.

The F-series is up against some tough competition. The GMC Sierra, Chevy Silverado, and Dodge Ram are all strong and capable trucks. Ford needs to be on the top of their game to keep the coveted number one spot, and they have done just that. The F-series has not only been the number one selling truck in America, but has also been America’s number one selling vehicle for the past two years running. With a total year end sales of 528,349 and 584,917 in sales for 2010 and 2011 respectively. that is a 10.7% increase in sales over the course of the year. The F-series has beaten the combined sales of the GMC Sierra, Chevy Silverado, and Chevy Avalanche for 2010 and 2011. A feat Ford had not pulled of since before the year 2001.

Ford Boasts best all-around capability, and best in class Fuel economy. With up to 23 mpg highway. rising gas prices have not seemed to dampen the F-series’ flame. The base model 2012 F-150 beats the competition in fuel economy compared to the 2012 Silverado/Sierra’s 19 mpg highway, and Ram’s 20 mpg highway. The Silverado easily beats the F-150 in standard equipment, but with a starting price of $27,550 compared to the F-150’s $22,990 starting price, the Chevy looks a bit expensive. the Ram’s starting price is $21,820. the Base models of The Silverado/Sierra and Ram beat the base Model F-150 in horsepower, but with standard cargo area tiedowns, best in class feul economy, best in class standard towing capacity, and a longer bed give the F-series just the edge it needs to stay on top. The F-series has dominated the sales for 2012 so far, and is still America’s number one selling vehicle. The future is continuing to look bright for the Ford F-Series.
