A lot of times, when you think about egg crafts, you think about Easter projects. Eggs definitely go right along with Easter but that’s not the only time you ever serve or display them. Some people serve eggs in a decorative manner for a holiday; some serve deviled eggs or another type at a wedding. But whether it’s Easter, an upcoming wedding, or a special meal with your family, you can serve eggs in a most delicious way by using spoons and flowers. The arrangement is not only beautiful but very useful as well.
It only takes a few minutes to make the egg server and you’ll be surprised at just how lovely and useful it will be. You’ll need a large jar to make the base that holds the flowers as well as the spoons. The jar should be a colored one so that you can’t see through it. However, if you have no other jar but a clear one, cut a piece of decorative paper or cloth and tape it around the jar. Wrap a rubber band around the jar – around the middle – so that it fits but isn’t too tight.
Use a collection of spoons to make the egg holders themselves. The spoons can match or be mismatched. You’ll find cheap silverware at a dollar-theme store that work perfectly for this project.
Right above the bowl of the spoon, bend the handle so that the bowl is at a 90 degree angle. Most silverware can be bent by hand but, if yours won’t bend, you can also place the spoon in a vise to bend it. Just set the handle of the spoon in the vise and push on the bottom of the spoon to bend. Slide each spoon handle under the rubber band to hold it in place. Space the spoons far enough apart to accommodate the eggs. the larger the jar, the more spoons it can hold.
Tie a ribbon around the rubber band to conceal it and tie the ribbon in a bow. Then, decide on the flowers you will use. They can be silk flowers or real ones. Just make the arrangement you want, inside the jar, and the spoon egg holder is finished.
Lay a hard-boiled, deviled, or dyed egg onto each spoon to display and serve them. No matter what type of eggs they are, they’ll be a little more appealing in the floral spoon arrangement.
