Fire and Water Wedding Decorations

You’re probably going to have candles at your wedding; probably going to have a centerpiece on each table. Don’t you just want to do something different with them, though? Sure, candles are pretty just the way they are but a wedding calls for something a little more spectacular, doesn’t it? Because, anyone can set a candle on a table and call it a centerpiece but, for your wedding, you want the decorations to be really stunning. In just a minute, you can make a fire and water centerpiece which will cause your guests to do a double-take. They’ll look once and think they see fire coming out of water. Even if they look a second time they still might not realize how you did it. However, it’s a really simple craft that can help you create astonishing centerpieces which combine fire and water to create an unparalleled beauty.

Use two different glass pieces to make each fire and water decoration. Start with a large vase, bowl or other glass object. Choose a second glass piece – like a drinking glass – which will easily fit into the first one. The second object can be shorter than the first container but cannot be taller than it.

Fill the first container halfway full with water. Drop in food coloring, if desired, to turn the water to a color which goes along with the wedding theme. Or, forego dyeing the water.

Place a white candle in the smallest container and set it in the large one. Place it right in the center of the large dish. With the second container inside the first one, the water level should be up to the very edge of the smallest container. Add or remove water to make it happen. This gives the illusion – particularly if the water is colored – that the light is coming directly from the water. When the water is tinted guests can’t even see the glass inside which holds the candle.

If you have pillar candles which are in glass containers you can omit the second glass object and purchase only one. The one you purchase, though, should be large enough and tall enough to accommodate the pillar candle.

If you only have small candles, like tea lights, choose any large container, but a second container which is very heavy. Turn it upside-down in the water and set the tea light on it. The fire and water centerpieces or decorations take only a minute to make yet create a striking look for the wedding reception tables.
