Favorite Movie of 2011

My personal favorite movie was hard to choose. There were many great films throughout this year and I didn’t know which my favorite was. But I’ve looked at all of my movies and I saw that my favorite was Captain America: The First Avenger. I didn’t know much about Captain America, but this movie explained Captain Americas past and his future. I’ll try to summarize what I saw without spoiling the movie, and I guarantee that you’ll want to see this movie by the end of the year.

The movie starts with a crew of men patrolling an arctic area looking for something. They meet residents of the area and find that something hit their arctic place. In the wreckage one of the men finds a shield, and this is the first part where you see something relating to Captain America, but it’s also one of the most satisfying things in the movie. And that’s when you know that this film will not be disappointing.

The movie then switches to the 1940’s and Red Skull (the villain later on) is looking in a house for a secret power and finds it. The power is immense, and he captures the power and takes it with him. The movie then goes to Steve Rogers, a small man from the city of Brooklyn, as he is rejected from participating in World War II. Chris Evans does a great job of portraying Steve and you really feel the work put into the film. Steve meets a doctor from Germany who is working on a super soldier experiment with the U.S. Army. The doctor, Erskine, finds out that Steve is passionate, smart, and really wants to join the army. Erskine enlists Steve into the army and he has a hard time in training camp until he finds a very smart solution to a drill. Erskine then knows he is the one for the experiment. Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) takes Steve to a book store which actually harbors a laboratory. Here, they send Steve in a machine to become stronger. The machine works and Steve is a huge man with incredible strength.

But as everyone is celebrating the success a glasses-wearing attendee shoots and kills Erskine. Steve pursues him with his newfound speed and stamina and prevails in the end. Portrayed now as a hero in the newspaper for taking down one of Red Skull/Hydra’s (his name before he turns into a super villain) assassins, Steve starts doing advertising performances for buying bonds for the army. But knowing he can do more, he organizes a solo rescue mission for captured soldiers (one being his best friend) where he first dons the costume and shield. The story takes off from there.
