Easy Winter Decorating Tips

After packing up the decorations, give your home a winter make-over! Choosing winter white and one accent color such as deep burgundy or a rich hunter green will update your living space. Using texture and softness as your guide when choosing pillows and throws will give you a comfy result you will love sinking into on a cold winter day. If you have a fabric couch, consider putting winter white slip covers on them. It will change the whole look of the room for a completely different feel. Completely clear off your coffee table and end tables. Add a cluster of clear glass votive candle holders filled with white candles, keeping your end-tables clear of all clutter. Add a dried herb wreath to scent your home. If you’re fortunate enough to have a fireplace and mantle, clear it off and add pine boughs and scatter pine cones through it.

For your kitchen, planting herbs on your windowsill will add a wonderful woodsy scent to your kitchen. Plus, the added benefit of fresh herbs for soups and stews! Replace your kitchen towels and potholders, coordinating with your new living area colors if your kitchen and living area are combined. Clear off the front of the refrigerator , it immediately makes the kitchen look cleaner. Stash the toaster and coffee-maker in a cabinet, or leave them but make sure they shine! Add a new kitchen rug, make sure your counters are cleared off and then step back to admire your work.

Make your bathroom a winter oasis. Stock up on fluffy towels – white will give you that “spa” feel. Replace your bathroom rugs for a jewel tone with a thick pile for that “good feet feel” we all love. Update your current shower curtain to a white fabric liner on a curved stainless steel rod, using stainless steel hooks. This will give a clean, calm look to your bathroom. If you have the room (and the money) for a towel warmer, it is one indulgence you will not regret! Polish the mirrors and chrome until they gleam, it’s one of the easiest things you can do to beautify your bath. Don’t forget heavily scented bath oils and gels, they leave a wonderful scent lingering in the bath long after your soak is over. Fancy soaps and beautiful hand towels complete your new look. Time for a hot bubble bath!
