Darkness Cloaked in Light

Standing aloof in giant ignorance
The pedantic elite
In their flowing robes
Genuflect and rise, point and cross.
Judgment is in their mouths,
Deceit on their tongues.
They swear to fealty
While ravenous wolves hide beneath
Their cloaks of midnight.
Mantles awash with the blood of the innocents
Stealing contentment, and hope
Replacing them with guilt, and shame.
The God they worship is not the one they imagine.
Their deity is drunk with blood and fear,
Seeking fresh converts, gullible prey.
This God robs innocence,
Pollutes lives with sin,
And calls ecstasy a temptation.
He gathers within his fold
The conscience-crushed souls.
They are the disdainful rabble
who splash their convictions upon all
Unfortunate enough to pass.
