Cookie Books

There are various occasions when a person might create a book-related theme. For a child’s birthday, for a graduation party, to celebrate a great report card – these are all reasons why a person might be interested in foods with a book or learning theme. If you’re having such a party or theme you can make the most scrumptious desserts which look like books. You don’t need any special training or skills to produce delectable books with a child’s initial, an image, or another accent.

Take a regular marshmallow and, with the heel of your hand or a spoon, smash it flat. Lay the marshmallow on the backside of a Keebler Deluxe Graham cookie. Set another cookie on top of it to sandwich the marshmallow between the two cookies.

It’s optional if you want to add a chocolate bar to the book. If so, set the first cookie out, place the flattened marshmallow on it, lay the chocolate piece on it, spread a tiny bit of marshmallow cream on the chocolate, then put the second cookie on top.

Spread marshmallow cream onto yet another cookie and press it on one long side of the marshmallow sandwich to make a book binding for the arrangement. With the book building finished, decide how you want the front of the book to look.

Place frosting in a zipper-lock or other baggie and snip the corner so that you can pipe it onto the book. You can use any shade of frosting but chocolate won’t show up well on the chocolate cookie. Pipe a border around the cover, and write an initial on the front of the book, or create your own piped design.

Another way to decorate the front of the book is to use tube gel. It comes in a small tube, is available in various colors, and makes it really easy to write directly on the front of the book.

Yet another option is to use food markers. These, too, are available in assorted colors and can be used to write whatever you want on the front cover of the book cookie. You’ll find these at some craft stores and you can also order them online.

Since the front of the book is not that large, you’re limited to the amount of writing and other accents you can give to the book. A large letter is a good choice, but you can also do numbers, small words, or even the outline of an animal. No matter how your finished books look, those who eat them will find them delightful.
