Cincinnatians Going to Washington for Rally and March to Commemorate Unveiling of MLK Monument

Cincinnati – Hundreds of people will travel to Washington, D.C., on Friday for a Rally and March organized by National Action Network, to commemorate the unveiling of the MLK memorial on the National Mall.

The memorial is surrounded by memorials of four former presidents. King’s will be the first to honor a non president and a man of color.

Life Trip a nonprofit youth organization and Concerned Citizens for justice organized the Cincinnati trip.

Nicole Taylor a Colerain Township resident plans to make the historic trip.

“I’m taking my oldest daughter on this trip. I want her to learn through firsthand experience the great contributions Martin Luther King, Jr. and other leaders made to make our communities better. I want her to be a future leader, because decades later we still face so many challenges. We still need jobs and justice.”

The community is invited out to a Pre-Rally that will take place at 1580 Summit Road Cincinnati, Ohio 45237 (Roselawn) on August 26th at 7 pm. David Singleton executive director of the Ohio Justice & Policy Center (OJPC) will kick off this event.
