Christmas Eve in a Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland

Two days before Christmas off we went,
To ski the trails to some extent.
It had rained the night before,
We were anxious to explore.

I skied ahead down a little trail,
Rick behind me on my tail.
I heard a cry and looked around,
Rick was laying on the ground.

It’s broken, oh my God, he said,
I said “the ski” and he shook his head.
It’s my leg that is not quite right,
It’s broken for sure – I had a fright.

Someone called the medics quickly,
The certainly came very swiftly.
They carried Rick down the mountain side,
I grabbed his skies and then I sighed.

The youth hostel was as nice good be,
They backdated a policy just for me.
I sobbed and thanked them very much,
And in my hand, the policy I clutched.

The policy was a god-send too,
Hospital expenses were covered, nothing due.
On Christmas Eve they wheeled Rick down,
To see the Christmas tree with candles abound.

They lit the candles one by one,
Turned off the lights and carols we sung.
The Christmas tree was a true delight,
I will never ever forget this night.
