Celebs We Lost This Year: From Amy Winehouse to Elizabeth Taylor: Trivia Tribute

We lost some of our favorite celebrities this year. It’s a morbid topic but no year in review would be complete without taking the time to commemorate celebs who died in 2011. They bring us entertainment and laughter in life, so it is only fair that we remember them after they have passed on.

Let’s look back at stars we loved and lost.

Amy Winehouse

The “Rehab” singer is sadly the youngest on the list. Amy joins a list called “The 27 Club.” this is a list of rock and roll stars who lost their lives at age 27. True or false?

True. Conspiracy theorists also call this the “Curse of 27.” The list of fallen young singers includes such musical legends as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain.

Elizabeth Taylor

Ms. Liz was one of the great American screen idols of all time. However, our Hollywood icon was actually British. True or false?

True. The “National Velvet” siren was born in the UK. She died in March at the age of 79. Her art and jewels are scheduled to go up for auction in 2012, and will in part benefit people living with AIDS and HIV.

Heavy D

Hev was a hard core gangster rapper from the mean streets of the Bronx in New York City. True or false?

False. Heavy D was by all accounts one of the sweetest people on the planet. The Jamaican-born rapper was known for feel good music. Whoopi Goldberg pointed out on “The View” that the 44-year-old performer created only positive music.

Patrice O’Neal

A well-known comic, Patrice passed away shortly after participating in “The Charlie Sheen Roast.” True or false?

True. Patrice brought the audience to peals of laughter at the Comedy Central event. He was only 41 when his body succumbed to complications from a stroke related to diabetes.

Nick Ashford

Ashford sung “Solid As A Rock” with his life partner Valerie. True or false?

True. Ashford and Simpson will go down in history as one of the best singer-songwriter duos ever.

Other stars that passed away include boxer Joe Frazier, “Jackass” star Ryan Dunn and reality television star Russell Armstrong. Our thoughts are with their families.
