Cal Ripkin May Rejoin the Baltimore Orioles Organization

Cal Ripkin may rejoin the Baltimore Orioles. He retired from baseball in 2001. He wore the familiar uniform of the Baltimore Orioles, Camden Yard was his field and Maryland is still his home. Cal broke records and was probably the most likable player ever to wear the uniform. Although he has not been playing major league ball, he still has baseball running through his veins.

This Hall of Fame great let it be known yesterday that although he is retired he still has an ‘itch’ to go back to the big league. It sounds like the Ripkin household is shrinking as his youngest son, Ryan, will be heading off to college. Maybe dad is wondering what to do with himself after the last one leaves the nest. Living in Maryland he could be spending his free time on the Chesapeake Bay or traveling for fun. But it appears that Cal has a need to be part of his old organization.

When he retired from baseball he was able to spend more time with his kids. He wanted to be there for them. Cal’s own father wasn’t able to have that kind of opportunity and Cal Jr. wanted to make sure he didn’t miss out on those special times. It is nice that he was able to retire and do what truly wanted to do.

What will Cal Ripkin’s role be if he does work for the Baltimore Birds? He obviously won’t be at bat or out in the field at 50 years of age catching grounders, but he may be in the front office. He did say he has been in conversations over the years with the Orioles organization about him working for them.

If Cal becomes a member of the Baltimore Orioles organization, it will be a fantastic boost for the team, the game and for the fans in Baltimore. The Baltimore Son goes on to report that although the Orioles are heading for another losing season, they may be heading in the right direction, according to Cal.

Cal Ripkin is someone that deserves to be in the front office of the Baltimore Orioles.
